postheadericon Baby Shower Gift Baskets – Number One Gift You Can Give

If you have been invited to a baby shower and can’t think of the best gift to get, think about getting a few smaller gifts. Perhaps there is one item, you can’t find, but you don’t have to worry. Imagine putting together a gift basket for the expectant mom and all of the great presents you will be able to find for her and the baby.
There are different ways to create a baby gift basket. You can have themed baskets with different types of bath items or toys for the baby. You don’t have to create the basket yourself if you aren’t creative enough. Baby stores or gift shops will have many pre-made boxes or baskets for you to buy.
Let’s look at different type of baskets that you can create or look for:
Bathing gift basket: This basket can include many cute items. Look for different shampoos and soaps that are especially made for babies. Babies use soft and gentle products because their skin is so sensitive. Included in this basket are hooded towels, which are great products for babies. After a bath they keep the baby warm. You can also include washcloths, a comb, pajamas and even a rubber duck.
Good night gift basket: Put a nighttime gift basket together for the baby. This can include pajamas, lotions and perhaps a mobile to put in the crib. Other items that you might want to include is humidifier for the baby’s bedroom or any type of cute pictures that can go into the baby’s room. The good night basket should have many soothing items in it that will help the baby fall asleep easier.
Fun for Baby gift basket: This gift basket will include many toys for the baby. Maybe a newborn isn’t going to use all these items right away, but that shouldn’t stop you from buying lots of goodies for the baby. Buy toys that the baby can progress into. Start with a rattle and toys for a very young baby. Then, move on to toys for slightly older babies. You can ransack a toy store for all the best gifts.
Gender-based gift baskets: If you know the gender of the baby, you can look for items that are for a boy or a girl. Find cute clothing, toys, bottles and any other items that are made just for a boy or a girl. If it’s a boy, you can get a sailboat-themed type of basket. Get clothing with little sailboats on them with similar themed bibs and onesies. You can also buy a little sailboat that the baby can play with in the bath. This works well with many different types of theme such as racecars for boys and butterflies or fairies for girls.
Soothing Mom gift basket: The baby isn’t the only person that needs attention. Mom-to-be will be dealing with a lot when the baby is finally born. Put together a home spa for mom. Perhaps a pedicure spa or a gift certificate to professional spa can be included in the basket. You might include a plush bathrobe with different oils and scents. Also give mom a special made coupon that says you will baby sit one night to give her a much needed night’s rest. This gift basket can include many items that will help the expectant mother soothe into the transition of motherhood easier.
You can put together these baskets yourself or find pre-made ones on the Internet or a store. Include a card in the basket. By getting many small gifts, your will leave a lasting effect on the expectant mom with your thoughtful and practical gift.

But if you’re one of those people who are completely clueless when it comes to babies, then this could be a difficult situation for you. Here are some suggestions and tips on how to find a gift for those cute babies:1. Just go to any mall and browse through the toy department section. You should be able to choose something that a baby will love. Remember that little babies are delicate creatures, so stay away from toys that might potentially harm them. Soft toys, baby books, baby apparels are some of the more ideal presents that are suitable for babies. Do an inventory with your other friends whom you know would also be giving baby gifts for this occasion. This way, you don’t end up buying the same things.5. If you feel that your inadequacy when it comes to selecting a baby shower gift is insurmountable , you can always just beg one of your friends who are more baby friendly to tag along with you. This way, you are saved the embarrassment of your severe indecision when it comes time to select the perfect giant rubber ducky.6.You can just always buy baby clothes! If you consider yourself posh, and live for fashion, then this is your chance to shine! postheadericon Give Your Baby A Head Start with Educational Toys

Everywhere you look there are new toys for babies and toddlers that promise to give your child an edge. Make them smarter than all the other babies and get them ready to read in no time! Okay, obviously a lot of the claims are hype. But do educational toys help your child to grow up smarter?Consider this fact, when a baby is born their brain is only thirty percent of the size it will ultimately grow to. But, by the time the baby reaches a year old, their brain has doubled in size and is now sixty percent grown. That is a lot of brain development going on in one short year. So obviously a lot of growth and learning can be taking place during that time. Most of the learning that a baby does in the first year involves all five senses: sight, sound, smell, taste, and touch. If you watch an older infant play they see the toy, the touch the toy, they shake the toy and then they taste the toy. They follow the same pattern with everything, exploring and learn by using all five senses. One of the first senses that a baby uses is sight. When babies are first born, they cannot focus on definite objects like we do. They notice contrast in colors and shapes. For that reason, infant toys that have bright and contrasting colors and bold shapes are perfect for newborn infants. Their eyes will first learn to focus on the edges of the shapes and then gradually learn to see the whole picture.  You can make simple cards with a bulls eye or a checkerboard pattern. Babies love simple geometric shapes and strong contrast in colors. Set the cards up along the baby’s crib and let them gaze at the cards a few times a day.  Sound is another sense that begins to develop as soon as the baby is born. Even small infants will react positively to soothing sounds such as their mother’s voice or classical music. Playing classical music when the baby is cranky can have a calming effect as well. As the child grows, they show delight when a toy makes a sound. Crinkly and crunch sounds are very appealing to young infants. Parents can put some tissue or newspaper in a sock and let the baby play with it. Their eyes light up with wonder when they find that they can make noise with it!Smell is an important sense for young infants. They use their sense of smell to recognize their mother and their source of food.  As the sense develops, they will begin to recognize smells that bring them pleasure.Babies like to put everything in their mouths! They really use their sense of taste for the first year or so. This is just the baby’s way of exploring and learning. Make sure that you carefully baby proof your house so the baby will not taste anything that could be harmful. Our sense of touch can bring us comfort, and it is no different for babies. They thrive with a mother’s touch. They also enjoy the softness of a cozy blanket and a dry diaper. As babies start to explore their world, they use their sense of touch to discover different textures and shapes. You can help them experience this by providing them with textured rattles, books, and other toys.  Educational toys do have their place and they are beneficial to children of all ages, but are expensive learning toys really necessary for infants? It is possible to stimulate a baby’s brain without all the store bought toys. Just remember, the more stimulation the baby’s brain has the better it develops.  This can be accomplished with any of the good, educational toys on the market, or simple toys you can make at home. In the end, the best interaction is a human touch. Play with your baby and explore their world with them. You will both be happier and more content. Bonding with your baby is the best thing you can do for them.
